This fall 25 high school youth from across Santa Fe completed our 10-week Youth Allies Leadership Institute. These students attend the Santa Fe Indian School, Capital High School, Santa Fe High School, the Academy for Technology and the Classics, and Santa Fe Waldorf. Last week their parents, teachers and community members came together to celebrate these amazing youth leaders. These young leaders shared their commitments going forward, and they are gearing up to jump into the movement for social and ecological justice through Action Network campaigns in 2018 and other social action opportunities to improve our community, our state, and the world.
Robb Hirsch of the Climate Change Leadership Institute also awarded these youth and Earth Care with their 2017 Justice Award for our "leadership advancing social equity, sustainability, and climate justice.
Tara Trudell led an amazing paper bead workshop with the Youth Allies and their families. In these beads, they wrote down their aspirations for themselves and one another to carry into the next phase of their journey.
Thank you to everyone who attended in support of young people in Santa Fe taking the lead in our community.
