Service-Learning
Service-learning is a methodology for realizing real-world learning in schools and the community that allows students to see practical applications of their academic studies while developing their leadership and citizenship skills. Together with Educating for Sustainability these methods serve to increase student motivation and engagement in their learning and improve educational success.
Earth Care is the Lead Agency in New Mexico for Global Youth Service Days, a national program of Youth Service America. Earth Care supports schools in realizing events, celebrations and service projects during GYSD, often coinciding with Earth Day activities.
This year’s GYSD events will culminate on Friday, April 26th with an Earth Day Service Event at the Zona del Sol Center for Youth & Families.
