Earth Care's youth leaders are organizing in coordination with the national Sunrise Movement and the international FridaysfortheFuture youth-led movements to step up climate action in NM. We know national and global movement work must always be rooted first and foremost in community leadership.
We would like to invite you to join us and stand in community to plan for the September 20th General Climate Strike on July 13th from 2pm-4pm at the Center for Progress and Justice (1420 Cerrillos Road). If you are unfamiliar with the Global Climate Strike call to action, see HERE for more background and details.
We are seizing the climate strike as an opportunity to drive our voices as youth and directly impacted communities to demand action on the climate crisis that affects us, have our voices heard, and be backed by allies within our communities. The Strike will not only include an invitation to strike for workers and employers - but a direct action/civil disobedience component calling for specific policy demands (informed by folks like you), 7 days of resistance actions, and an extensive engagement campaign leading up to the September 20th date.
This work is part of the intersectional movement for environmental, racial, and economic justice in NM. We honor those on the frontlines of climate disruption - especially our indigenous comrades who have been leading this fight since industry arrived.
We hope you can join us!
