Contributions to Earth Care go directly to:

1. Youth Leadership

Earth Care kicked off our FIRST ever Youth Allies Leadership Program in Las Vegas, NM last spring. The 10-week training series activated and trained twenty-five youth from Vegas public high schools to create meaningful community change. This new program is part of our strategy to build a network of active and engaged young leaders throughout northern New Mexico who are equipped to lead social change movements and take positive action within their community. We're about to head out to our first YA retreat with new additions to our Las Vegas Youth Allies cohort next week!

2. Sustainability & Social Justice Education

Over the years Earth Care has provided hands-on, service-based sustainability and social justice education to thousands of Santa Fe Public School students. We've trained certified teachers to integrate critical pedagogy into their classrooms in partnership with the District & PED, organized a Sustainability Education Task Force, and developed outdoor classrooms and school gardens. Every year our own EC educators teach & inspire hundreds of students in classrooms at our partner schools. We've been working for years to push the District to institutionalize sustainability education. We helped push for the Water & Energy Conservation specialist position which has saved the District millions of dollars through water conservation, energy efficiency, and solarizations. We continue to work with Santa Fe Public Schools to provide Sustainability Education in classrooms and school gardens.

3. Family Leadership

Last year we expanded our community leadership capacity-building work with the launch of Poder Familiar.  The program trains parents to become active and engaged leaders and advocates for their families and communities using a evidence-based 10-week parent leadership curriculum called Abriendo Puertas. The only parent leadership curriculum developed specifically for Latinx families. We are proud to say that our fall training series was taught by parent leaders who came up through the program las summer and were trained as trainers. Our graduates are mothers, teachers and local change makers who have the power, commitment, willingness and drive to create a ripple effect of change in our community. We are continuing to offer curriculum in two schools.
