YUCCA'S NEW POLICY-LEAD: ENNEDITH LÓPEZ
We are thrilled to announce that Ennedith López - an amazing and talented young leader in our climate and environmental justice movement has joined the YUCCA staff to help lead our policy work! Ennedith López is a Xicana born and raised in Albuquerque’s International District, which has empowered her passion for community-based work and advocacy. Throughout her youth, she has been involved in a series of community roles focusing on various social justice issues ranging from Immigration Justice to Environmental and Climate Justice. In the Spring of 2021, she graduated from UNM with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Spanish. She later followed to become the 2021-2022 New Mexico Fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies. During her time at IPS, she has conducted research for the Mining, Trade, and Latin America project and Climate Policy project in urging New Mexico to transition away from fossil fuels; she then completed her fellowship at the New Mexico Environmental Law Center (NMELC) as an intern. Recently, Ennedith has joined Earth Care and YUCCA staff as a Policy Campaign Manager to continue holding institutions, industry, and policymakers accountable in the fight for a Just Transition and equitably green future. "I'm excited to join YUCCA because the organization centers Youth BIPOC, low-income, and marginalized communities in their work. By fostering a strong network of community power and resistance."
