Organizing & Leadership Development
Leadership training and development is a part of all our projects and campaigns. We also hold our El Puente Leadership Academy during the summer for youth 14-25 years old in addition to our Poder Familiar Training. Applications for El Puente are posted in May and are available on our trainings page.

Santa Fe Mutual Aid
With the help of community leaders and organizations in Santa Fe, we helped lead the jumpstart of Santa Fe Mutual Aid at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since March 2020, we have hosted community events like Community Swap Meets and a Brake Light Repair Clinic. Thanks to our neighbors and members in Santa Fe, we have also redistributed $324,000 to community members in Santa Fe County for groceries, medicine, household supplies, rent, and more! We also took part in the national movement to redistribute federal stimulus checks to our undocumented & mixed status community members/families to a sum of $109,000! ​

Youth United For Climate
Crisis Action
In 2019, YUCCA emerged out of Earth Care's El Puente Leadership Academy. YUCCA launched a climate emergency campaign that summer and has been leading direct action organizing and grassroots capacity-building in New Mexico to pressure politicians, candidates, and the press to address the climate crisis. Led by youth from Indigenous, Latine, Immigrant, Chicano, and low-income backgrounds, the campaign successfully mobilized thousands of youth and adults for the climate strike on 9/20/2019 and has continued to build on that momentum with a series of actions designed to hold Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan-Grisham and her administration as well as law-makers accountable for inadequate action on the climate crisis. Our campaign has earned consistent media attention and has included escalated tactics, including 21 arrests for civil disobedience in October.The purpose of YUCCA is to grow a youth-led intergenerational & intersectional grassroots climate justice movement in NM that is powerful enough to hold leaders accountable and force the passage of climate policies that address the science, move us swiftly toward carbon neutrality, and end our abusive dependence on fossil fuel extraction. We need to keep the untapped reserves in the Permian Basin – in the ground!

Environmental Justice Campaign
We worked with Southside residents to oppose the consolidation of an asphalt plant in our area. This area is dense with housing and new developments, plus it is close to our schools. We expect to hear a ruling on the permit later this year.
