Arts & CulturE: LA CULTURA CURA
La Cultura Cura began in 2022 when Earth Care – with the support of the City of Santa Fe Arts and Culture Department, Cesar Chavez Community School, and El Camino Real Academy – engaged over 20 youth and their families in ukulele classes (Cuerdas del Corazón) based on the family histories, dichos, and traditional songs in a Nuevomexicano context.
Initially, our short term goal was to use this studio space to create community and music in support of our collective wellbeing, and our long term purpose is to rekindle the basis for community celebrations: sharing music, art, food, and conversation in support of a shared future!
Since 2019, we have expanded our arts and culture programming to include Ballet Folklórico and Community Choir.

Discover the rich traditions, intricate footwork, and colorful costumes of Mexican folkloric dance. Our classes offer a joyful journey into the heart of Mexican culture for ages 12 and older, all skill levels.
CLASSES
Join our classes every Sunday at 11:00 am for new students, 12:00 pm for regular classes!
REGISTRATION
Registration and folklorico shoes are required. Annual fee $50 per student, $40 for family members. Registration forms are available at the Earth Care, YMCA Office – to order your folklorico shoes, text Xochitl at (505) 603-7997.
