Real change doesn’t always come from big moments—it often starts in the quiet, powerful spaces where families come together. From the return of Sand Play at Earth Care, where our families and youngest community members learn and explore through play, to the launch of a new round of Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors classes–an evidence-based program that strengthens family leadership and advocacy–we’re nurturing the powerful spaces where resilience is built, leadership is grown, and futures are reimagined.
We’re also reflecting on our recent event with the Mobile Consulate of Guatemala, which brought essential services directly to hundreds of community members. All of it is part of a bigger vision: healthy and empowered families, and a future rooted in justice, dignity, and care.
Building Power from Home to Community: Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors Is Back!
A few weeks ago, we launched a new round of Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors classes—a program created by and for Latino families that promotes leadership, education, and social justice from the home.
These classes not only strengthen the role of parents, caregivers, and guardians as their children’s first teachers, but also plant the seeds of collective change in our communities.
At Earth Care, we believe that building a more equitable and compassionate Santa Fe begins with informed, organized, and empowered families. That’s why this program is much more than a series of workshops—it’s a political tool to transform realities, open new pathways, and break cycles of inequality.

Bringing Essential Services Home: A Powerful Visit with the Mobile Consulate of Guatemala
This past weekend, something powerful happened in Santa Fe.
We had the honor of hosting the Mobile Consulate of Guatemala, which traveled all the way from Phoenix, Arizona to provide essential services to our community right here in our own backyard during an event filled with joy, solidarity, and collective action.
By the end of the day, approximately 200 people had been assisted, and more than 350 essential procedures were completed–including consular IDs, passports, and dual citizenship applications.
We’re deeply grateful to Santa Fe Public Schools for providing the space that made this event possible. We’re also sending a very special thank you to Nava Elementary School and its incredible staff, who supported us every step of the way with generosity and commitment.

Reminder: Sand Play Returns to Earth Care This Week!
Warm weather is here, and Sand Play is returning to Earth Care beginning this week!
These free, play-based sessions learning sessions for families with children ages 0-5 create a space for creativity, exploration, and early learning through natural textures and materials. These sessions provide a fun, hands-on experience that supports children’s early development and give families the opportunity to connect, relax, and play together.
Sand Play first began as a community offering hosted in partnership with the Brindle Foundation at the Railyard–and since then, it’s grown into a flourishing program held at multiple locations across the city, including right here at Earth Care!
Whether you’ve joined us in past years or are participating for the first time, we’d love to see you there. With sessions offered weekly at Earth Care on both Fridays and Saturdays (in addition to other locations and dates across the city) there are plenty of opportunities to stop by throughout the summer!

El verdadero cambio no siempre se produce en los grandes momentos, sino que a menudo comienza en los espacios tranquilos y poderosos donde se reúnen las familias. Desde el regreso de Sand Play en Earth Care, donde nuestras familias y los miembros más jóvenes de la comunidad aprenden y exploran a través del juego, hasta el lanzamiento de una nueva ronda de clases de Abriendo Puertas, un programa basado en la evidencia que fortalece el liderazgo y la defensa de la familia, estamos alimentando los espacios poderosos donde se construye la resiliencia, crece el liderazgo y se reimagina el futuro.

Construyendo poder desde el hogar a la comunidad: ¡Vuelve Abriendo Puertas!
Hace unas semanas, iniciamos a una nueva ronda de clases de Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors, un programa creado por y para familias latinas que impulsa el liderazgo, la educación y la justicia social desde el hogar.
Estas clases no sólo fortalecen el rol de madres, padres y cuidadores como los primeros maestros de sus hijos, sino que también siembran la semilla del cambio colectivo en nuestras comunidades.
En Earth Care, creemos que construir un Santa Fe más equitativo y solidario comienza con familias informadas, organizadas y empoderadas. Es por eso que este programa es mucho más que una serie de talleres—es una herramienta política para transformar realidades, abrir caminos y romper ciclos de desigualdad.

Llevar los servicios esenciales a casa: Una poderosa visita al Consulado de Guatemala
Hace dos fines semana, algo poderoso sucedió en Santa Fe.
Tuvimos el honor de recibir al Consulado Móvil de Guatemala, que viajó desde Phoenix, Arizona, para brindar servicios esenciales a nuestra comunidad aquí mismo, en nuestro propio patio trasero, durante un evento lleno de alegría, solidaridad y acción colectiva.
Al final del día se había atendido a unas 200 personas y se habían realizado más de 350 trámites esenciales, como matrículas consulares, pasaportes y solicitudes de doble nacionalidad.
Queremos agradecer profundamente a las Escuelas Públicas de Santa Fe por prestarnos sus espacios y hacer posible este evento. Un reconocimiento muy especial a la Escuela Nava y a todo su increíble personal, quienes nos apoyaron en todo momento con generosidad y compromiso.

¡El clima cálido está aquí, y Sand Play está regresando a Earth Care a partir de esta semana!
Estas sesiones gratuitas de aprendizaje basadas en el juego para familias con niños de 0 a 5 años crean un espacio para la creatividad, la exploración y el aprendizaje infantil a través de texturas y materiales naturales. Estas sesiones proporcionan una experiencia divertida y práctica que apoya el desarrollo de la primera infancia y da a las familias la oportunidad de conectarse, relajarse y jugar juntos.
¡Sand Play comenzó como una oferta de la comunidad organizada en colaboración con la Fundación Brindle en el Railyard -- y desde entonces, se ha convertido en un programa floreciente celebrada en varios lugares de la ciudad, incluyendo aquí mismo en Earth Care!
