At Earth Care, we believe that community is where transformation begins. That the health and wellbeing of our children, families, and neighborhoods are inseparably intertwined with the opportunities we create together–opportunities to learn, lead, grow, and heal.
In the face of systems and structures that continue to marginalize and exclude our communities, we’re committed to building spaces that are grounded in culture, care, and collective empowerment – spaces that honor where we come from and invest in where we’re headed.
In the coming weeks and months, we’re excited to continue that work by resuming our summer Sand Play and Play-Based Learning Sessions, supporting a new cohort of parents and caregivers through our Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors program, providing opportunities for education through Plaza Comunitaria, Colegio Sin Fronteras, and continuing to uplift vital resources for our families as we continue to build power and community across Santa Fe and beyond.
This work – focused on youth and community health and development – is a powerful part of Earth Care’s broader vision of securing a healthy, just, and equitable future for our young people and families. It stands alongside our youth-led climate action, food justice, environmental justice, and mutual aid work, each interconnected and woven together by the leadership, knowledge, and experiences of our communities.
Below, you can learn more about opportunities to get involved with these ongoing programs and take part in our work to create transformational change from the ground up.
Whether you’re joining us to dig your hands into the sand with your child, continue your education, or deepen your leadership as a parent or caregiver, there is a place for you here in our shared movement for justice, opportunity, and transformation. Sand Play and Play-Based Learning Sessions Are Back!
We have some exciting news to share: our Sand Play Sessions will resume again this year beginning on May 23rd!
Last year, Earth Care participated in hosting Sand Play Sessions in partnership with the Brindle Foundation, who began facilitating this play-based learning activity in downtown Santa Fe at the Railyard. Since the Sand Play Sessions first began, the program has expanded to several other locations, including Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, the Santa Fe School for the Arts & Sciences, the Earth Care location, and the Railyard Park.
These sessions are free for families with children ages 0 to 5. Sand Play reinforces play-based learning for children during early developmental years by exposing them to natural textures and materials, which then creates a base for later skills.
We invite you to join us for Sand Play to experience a fun time of exploration and creative play! Below is a list of all the times, dates, and locations for Sand Play Sessions this summer – with several locations each offering sessions on different days and times, there’s plenty of opportunities to play and connect all summer long:

Would you like to start or continue your studies in Spanish? This is your opportunity!
Plazas Comunitarias are safe, welcoming spaces full of opportunities for Spanish-speaking migrants ages 15 and older. Here, you can study literacy (learn to read and write), elementary, or middle school — all in your language and at your own pace!
What is it for?
The purpose of the Plaza Comunitaria is to offer basic education in Spanish to our migrant community, strengthening learning, self-esteem, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Who can attend?
Anyone 15 years or older who speaks Spanish and wants to begin, continue, or complete their basic education. Your immigration status or current level of education does not matter!
You are not alone!
We support you every step of the way with respect, encouragement, and heart. Come be part of our learning community!

Learn, Lead, and Build With Us: Join Us for Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors!
We also invite you to participate in the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors program, a series of sessions created by and for Latino families focused on strengthening leadership, family well-being, and civic engagement rooted in our cultural heritage.
We believe that families are natural leaders in their homes and communities. The mission of Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is to empower parents and caregivers with the tools to make informed decisions about education, health, child development, and civil rights. We recognize that family engagement is a political act—a form of resistance against systems that have historically excluded us.
We envision communities where the voices of families shape public policy, where every parent and caregiver has access to the resources they need to live with dignity. These classes not only offer knowledge—they build community power. Together, we are transforming our realities and fighting for a future where the well-being of children is a social and political priority.
The sessions are interactive, fun, and deeply transformative. Your experience matters, your voice counts, and your leadership is needed!

Este trabajo, centrado en la salud y el desarrollo de los jóvenes y la comunidad, es una parte importante de la visión más amplia de Earth Care de garantizar un futuro saludable, justo y equitativo para nuestros jóvenes y familias. ¡Vuelven Las Sesiones de Sand Play!
Tenemos una noticia emocionante que compartir: ¡Nuestras Sesiones de Juego con Arena se reanudarán de nuevo este año a partir del 23 de mayo!
El año pasado, Earth Care participó en la organización de Sesiones de Juegos de Arena en colaboración con la Fundación Brindle, que comenzó a facilitar esta actividad de aprendizaje basada en el juego en el centro de Santa Fe en el Railyard. Desde que comenzaron las Sesiones de Juegos de Arena, el programa se ha ampliado a varios otros lugares, incluyendo el Centro de Orientación Tierra Nueva, la Escuela de Santa Fe para las Artes y las Ciencias, la ubicación de Earth Care, y el Parque Railyard.
Estas sesiones son gratuitas para las familias con niños de 0 a 5 años. Sand Play refuerza el aprendizaje basado en el juego para los niños durante los primeros años de desarrollo, exponiéndolos a texturas y materiales naturales, que luego crea una base para las habilidades posteriores.

¿Le gustaría aprender o retomar sus estudios en español? ¡Esta es su oportunidad!
Las Plazas Comunitarias son espacios seguros, acogedores y llenos de oportunidades para personas migrantes de habla hispana mayores de 15 años. Aquí puede estudiar alfabetización (aprender a leer y escribir), primaria o secundaria, ¡todo en su idioma y a su ritmo!
¿Para qué es? La Plaza Comunitaria tiene como finalidad ofrecer educación básica en español a nuestra comunidad migrante, fortaleciendo el aprendizaje, la autoestima y las oportunidades de desarrollo personal y laboral.
¿Quién puede asistir? Todas las personas mayores de 15 años que hablen español y que deseen iniciar, continuar o concluir su educación básica. ¡No importa su situación migratoria ni su nivel actual de estudios!
¡No está solo!
Lo acompañamos en cada paso con respeto, apoyo y mucho corazón. ¡Venga a formar parte de nuestra comunidad de aprendizaje!

Aprende, Lidera y Construye Con Nosotros: ¡Únete a Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors!
Lo invitamos a participar en el programa Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors, una serie de sesiones diseñadas por y para familias latinas, enfocadas en fortalecer el liderazgo, el bienestar familiar y la participación cívica desde nuestras raíces culturales.
Creemos que las familias son líderes naturales en sus hogares y comunidades. Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors tiene como misión empoderar a padres y madres con herramientas para tomar decisiones informadas sobre la educación, la salud, el desarrollo infantil y los derechos civiles. Reconocemos que la participación de las familias es un acto político, una forma de resistencia ante sistemas que históricamente nos han excluido.
Imaginamos comunidades donde la voz de las familias guía las políticas públicas, donde cada madre, padre o cuidador tiene acceso a los recursos necesarios para vivir con dignidad. Estas clases no solo brindan conocimiento, sino que construyen poder comunitario. Nos unimos para transformar nuestras realidades y luchar por un futuro donde el bienestar de la niñez sea una prioridad social y política.
Las sesiones son interactivas, divertidas y profundamente transformadoras. ¡Tu experiencia cuenta, tu voz importa, y tu liderazgo es necesario!
